The purpose of this panel is to provide an anatomy-based, practical, and case-oriented overview of contemporary nasal tip surgery. It aims to demonstrate how different techniques can be individualized according to nasal anatomy, tissue characteristics, and aesthetic goals, thereby improving surgical decision-making and helping surgeons achieve predictable, stable, and natural-looking outcomes.
Dr. Burak Ulkumen, MD, FTBORLHNS (Fellow of the Turkish Board of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery), is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Manisa Celal Bayar University, Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, an institution accredited by the Turkish Board of ORL-HNS. He currently serves as the Unit Manager of the Speech and Voice Disorders Division.
Dr. Ulkumen earned his medical degree from Marmara University School of Medicine (1994–2000) and completed his residency in Otorhinolaryngology at Istanbul Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital (2000–2005). His early career included positions at Batman State Hospital (2005–2007), Batman Dunya Hospital (2007–2012), and Izmir Deniz Hospital (2012–2014). Since 2014, he has been serving at Manisa Celal Bayar University.
His primary clinical and academic interests include rhinology (particularly endoscopic sinus surgery and rhinoplasty), laryngology and phoniatrics, voice and speech therapy, endoscopic ear surgery, and animal-based experimental research.
Dr. Ulkumen has been serving as an examiner for the European Board Examination in Otorhinolaryngology (EBEORL) for the past five years, actively contributing to the assessment and development of ENT specialists across Europe.
In addition to his clinical and academic duties, Dr. Ulkumen has been a member of the editorial board of Forum KBB and ENTCase journals for the past five years, and has served as an editor for both journals for the last two years.
He has published extensively in both national and international journals. According to Google Scholar, he has 183 citations, with an h-index of 8 and an i10-index of 7. On the Web of Science, he has 55 citations and an h-index of 4.
Dr. Ulkumen continues to advance the field of otolaryngology through his clinical expertise, research contributions, and commitment to academic excellence and education.

Dr. Masa Suzuki is a Japanese rhinologist who currently works for Hokkaido Univ. Hospital with great enthusiasm for surgeries, research, and education in the rhinology field. After completing his Ph.D. course at Hokkaido Univ (2015)., he flew to Adelaide, South Australia, supervised by Prof P.J. Wormald. He has published more than 80 articles in English and Japanese. He has been awarded a research award from the Japan Society of immunology and allergology in otolaryngology (2015), the conference Award of Japanese society of allergology (2020), and the best abstract award from the international society of Inflammation and allergy of the nose (ISIAN, 2024). He is also known as an English-Japanese translator and published the Japanese version of "Endoscopic Sinus Surgery," originally written by Prof. P.J. Wormald.
Prof. Dr. Rui Xavier graduated in Medicine from University of Porto in 1989. He concluded his training in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and became Specialist in 1997. He has a PhD degree in Medical Sciences with a thesis addressing rhinoplasty outcomes.
Prof. Dr. Rui Xavier has a special interest in Facial Plastic Surgery and, particularly, in functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty.
Prof. Dr. Rui Xavier is frequently invited to lecture in Congresses in Europe, Americaand Asia. He is author of several scientific papers published in medical journals and of several book chapters about rhinoplasty published in Europe and USA. He is also a reviewer for the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal, for the Facial Plastic Surgery Journal and for the Laryngoscope Journal.
Prof. Dr. Rui Xavier is member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and of the Asian Facial Plastic Surgery Society. He is President of the Facial Plastic Committee of the Portuguese Otolaryngology Society and National Delegate for Portugal of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery.
