Professor Suela SALLAVACI, MD, MsC, Ph.D
Suela Sallavaci is Professor of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospital Centre “Mother Teresa”, Tirana, Albania.
She was graduated as General Physician from University of Tirana, Albania, Faculty of Medicine and University of Studies of Padua, Italy.
She has studied and practised at the most well-known ENT services in the UK, Italy, France, Austria, etc.
Since 1998 ( year when she graduated as Otorhinolaryngologist at the University of Tirana), she practices as ENT surgeon. Her areas of expertise are: Otology, Rhinology, Pediatric ENT, Audiology, General Otorhinolaryngology.
Since 2001 she is senior lecturer at the University of Medicine, Tirana, Albania.
In 1999 she opened the Audiology Service for the first time in Albania.
During the period 1999-2011 she organised and coordinated a project financed by the Italian government: “The diagnosis and the rehabilitation of deafness of Albanian children”.
For the first time in Albania she organised the large scale screening programme of sixteen thousand children for hearing loss problems.
She has received two grants from EUFOS and British Academy of ORL-HNS.
She is a member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and the contact person of IFOS and EUFOS for Albania.
During 2001-2009 she was the General Secretary of Albanian Society of ORL-HNS and during the period 2013-2018 she was President of the Albanian Society of ORL-HNS.
During the period 2014-2016 she was President of Balkan Society of ORL-HNS.
She has authored the book “Deafness in children. Their treatment”; co-authored the textbook “The diseases of ear, nose, throat, head and neck” .
She is co-author of three books published from Springer: “ Challenges in Rhinology”; “ All around the nose”; “ Pediatric ENT infectious”etc.
She has published research articles in several scientific journals.
Prof. Mario Milkov, MD, PhD graduated from Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stojanov” – Varna in 1995.
Since 2002, he has been a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology, Surgery of the Head and Neck. In 2005, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis related to modern ossicular prostheses.
Main professional and scientific interests in the field of otology, neurotology, audio-vestibular medicine, biomaterials, sleep medicine, hearing prevention in newborns and early childhood. He holds a patent for the first Bulgarian ossicular prosthesis.
He is the creator of the bulgarian society of “obstructive sleep apnea and snoring” in 2012. He proposes and creates together with colleagues from the Black Sea countries the “International Black Sea Otological and Neurootological Association“ in 2017.
Prof. Mario Milkov is the Head of the Department “Dental materials science and prosthetic dental medicine” in Faculty of Dental medicine, Medical University – Varna.
Since March 2024 is appointed as Vice-Rector for “International relations”, Medical University – Varna.
He works at the “Audio-vestibular and sleep medicine” sector, University Medical and Dental Center.
Prof. Milkov is the Chairperson of the “Alumni club and Friends” – Medical University – Varna.
A corresponding academic member of national and international associations.
Has more than 180 scientific publications. Participated in over 190 world and national congresses, symposiums, specialized courses.
He has been the editor-in-chief of the journal „International Bulletin of Otorhinolaryngology“ since 2004. A member of the editorial board of five international medical journals in and other Bulgarian medical journals.
