Arzubetul Duran
Dr. Arzubetul Duran is an Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery specialist at Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital, where she has been working for more than 12 years. She completed her medical education at Dokuz Eylül University and her residency training in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Manisa Celal Bayar University.
She holds an MSc in Audiology, Voice, and Speech Disorders from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. She is a Fellow of the European Board of Phoniatrics, having obtained the fellowship through the European Board examination. She is currently pursuing a further MSc in Phoniatrics at Lokman Hekim University.
Her clinical and academic interests focus on phoniatrics, laryngology, and functional outcomes following head and neck cancer treatment. Her particular interests include voice and swallowing assessment and rehabilitation in patients with various cancers, as well as the integration of phoniatric approaches into head and neck oncology.
Dr. Duran is actively involved in postgraduate medical education, including teaching Otorhinolaryngology residents about the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting voice, speech, language, hearing, and swallowing.

Description: the neurolaryngology study group and the american academy of otolaryngology – head & neck surgery has published recommendations on the use of laryngology electromyography (LEMG). we will discuss traditional and innovative applications of LEMG, like diagnosing vocal fold paralysis, predicting vocal fold recovery, guiding botulinum toxin injection for spasmodic dysphonia and performing vocal fold injections of temporary fillers for glottic insufficiency. we will share tips for integrating this technology into clinical practice, based on our experience published in peer reviewed literature. pros and cons of LEMG will be reviewed.
outcome objectives:
- to examine the traditional applications for laryngeal electromyography, like diagnosing vocal fold paralysis and guiding botulinum toxin injection for spasmodic dysphonia
- to explore innovative ways to use laryngeal electromyography, like guiding filler injections for vocal fold paralysis and glottic insufficiency.
- to discuss the pros and cons of integrating laryngeal electromyography into clinical practice
structure of the session:
three expert laryngologists will discuss their experience with LEMG in their respective practices in taiwan and canada. lectures will be based on their peer-reviewed publications in the literature.
