Potential Aesthetic Effect Of Septoplasty With Barbed Suture On The Cartilaginous Dorsum

This study investigates the aesthetic impact of septoplasty using barbed sutures on the cartilaginous dorsum. The technique may enhance dorsal alignment and contour without additional grafting procedures. The research aims to evaluate postoperative dorsal shape, nasal symmetry, and patient satisfaction following functional septoplasty.

Dr. Hyo Yeol Kim is Professor of Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, and Dean of Dpt. Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Samsung Medical Center. He is a former President of Korean Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He specialized in Facial plastic surgery and Rhinology. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles in international journals and still focusing on the rhinoplaty and sleep.

Dr. Burak Erdur is a board-certified otorhinolaryngologist with a subspecialty focus on rhinoplasty. He graduated from Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in 2014. Subsequently, he completed his residency training in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in 2019.

During his residency, he undertook an observership at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the United States and obtained his specialist certification in 2019.

In 2022, he successfully passed both the written and oral components of the European Board of Otorhinolaryngology examination held in Vienna and was awarded the title of Fellow of the European Board of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (FEBORL-HNS). In the same year, he was also granted the Turkish Board certification in Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.
