Facial synkinesis is the most common chronic facial movement disorder that develops following facial nerve injury. Periocular synkinesis is one of the most common and bothersome types of facial synkinesis. Treatment of periocular synkinesis can be challenging with frequent persistence or recurrence of symptoms after treatment. This surgical video demonstrates a technique for treating periocular synkinesis: orbicularis oculi selective myectomy with autologous microfat grafting.
Periocular synkinesis is one of the most common and bothersome types of facial synkinesis. Treatment of periocular synkinesis can be challenging. This master of surgery video will demonstrate a surgical technique to improve periocular synkinesis.
Prof. Dr. Köksal Yuca graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1994. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2011. He works in his own clinic called RinoSinusCenter in Istanbul. He was certified by the European Board for examination and certification in facial Plastic and reconstructive Surgery in 2025.
