Prof. Dr. Köksal Yuca graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1994. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2011. He works in his own clinic called RinoSinusCenter in Istanbul. He was certified by the European Board for examination and certification in facial Plastic and reconstructive Surgery in 2025.

Lip asymmetry is commonly seen mostly due to iatrogenic etiology or due to congenital unilateral lower lip palsy (CULLP) which is also a very common clinical presentation (1/180). I personally have lots of experience in this patient group. I would like to tell about my patient management and surgical technique and results.
Surgical treatment of facial synkinesis is possible with selective neurectomy surgery. This surgery was pioneered by babak azizzadeh in 2018 and it is 7 years young. Safety and precision is very important in order to avoid iatrogenic facial paresis and functional problems. Facial synkinesis is the most common chronic facial movement disorder that develops following facial nerve injury. Periocular synkinesis is one of the most common and bothersome types of facial synkinesis. Treatment of periocular synkinesis can be challenging with frequent persistence or recurrence of symptoms after treatment. This surgical video demonstrates a technique for treating periocular synkinesis: orbicularis oculi selective myectomy with autologous microfat grafting.
