A Cl. Professor of Otolaryngology whose distinguished career spans more than two decades at the intersection of clinical excellence, impactful research, and transformative medical education. As an accomplished academic leader and editor, she has contributed with over 150 peer-reviewed publications and presentations, advancing clinical science, driving innovation in medical education, and strengthening quality improvement in higher education. She established collaborative research programs and has mentored learners across the full educational continuum—from undergraduate trainees to graduate researchers—for nearly 20 years, fostering the next generation of scholars and clinicians.
With being a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators and as a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK), her global engagement is further reflected in visiting professorships, Certification in Higher Education Teaching from Harvard University, and securing successful competitive international grants spanning both clinical and educational domains. On the Editorial side, she served as a topic Editor in Frontiers Education, a Topic Editor in Frontiers Rehabilitation Sciences”, a previous Guest Editor, and has recently joined the Editorial Board of “The International Journal of Team-Based and Interactive Learning”.
To crown these academic and scholarly contributions, she has been recently recognized as a member of “Sigma Xi”, the international research honor society, and recognized as a Distinguished Lecturer by American Scientist for 2026–2027.
Dr. Kays Burak Çakır is an Otorhinolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery specialist at İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate medical education at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2020 and finalized his residency training in Otorhinolaryngology at the same institution in 2026.
His clinical and academic interests focus on head and neck surgery, neurotology, and skull base surgery, with particular attention to the surgical management of complex middle ear, anterior and middle skull base, as well as head and neck oncology. Dr. Çakır is committed to a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach to patient care and remains actively involved in clinical research, academic teaching, and international scientific collaboration in the field of otorhinolaryngology.
