“From the Classroom to the Operating Room: Postgraduate Education for Sustainable ORL-HNS Surgery
Camilla Carroll, Phui Yee Wong, Florent Carsuzaa, Nahla Gomaa, Julie Strychowsky

Description: This program bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS). It is designed to equip postgraduate trainees with the advanced skills and sustainable practices necessary for a successful surgical career, ensuring a smooth transition from academic settings to the high-stakes environment of the operating room.

Outcome Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply advanced surgical techniques in complex ORL-HNS procedures.

  2. Integrate principles of sustainable surgery into their practice.

  3. Demonstrate enhanced clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills in the operating room.

Background: Newly qualified surgeons often face a steep learning curve when transitioning from residency to independent practice. This program addresses the critical need for structured postgraduate training that focuses not only on technical proficiency but also on the principles of sustainability, efficiency, and patient safety in modern surgical environments.
