Interventional DISE was first described in 2017 when in Houston (USA) Victores M.D. used a nasopharyngeal tube placement to determine the effect of eliminating palatal collapse on the obstruction seen on other segments of the upper airway. Since then some other groups have focused on doing more interactive the DISE in order to get even more information to improve decisions.

Dieleman in the Nederlands in 2020 described another interventional DISE while administering CPAP therapy during DISE and to determine the reason for CPAP failure.

Later on the DISE-SAM protocol developed in Madrid (Spain) by Fernandez SanJuan in 2022 used a tritable positioner optimizing mandibular advancement maneuvers while doing DISE.

In 2023 was described the automatic scoring in DISE by using Artificial Intelligence by a group from Denmark and USA.

As we can see in the field of OSA, we are in the middle of a DISE revolution, due to different interventions while performing the endoscopy. We wanted to review and update this trends and techniques in order to improve decisions for our OSA patients.
