Gregory W. Randolph MD FACS FACE MAMSE FEBS (Endocrine) FRCEd (ad hominem) is a Professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the inaugural Claire and John Bertucci Endowed Chair in Thyroid Surgical Oncology at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Surgeon at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. He trained at Cornell and Harvard Medical Schools. He founded and directed the Division of Thyroid and Parathyroid Endocrine Surgery. Dr. Randolph has a thyroid and parathyroid surgical practice focused on thyroid cancer, benign thyroid surgery and hyperparathyroidism exclusively and sees patients and operating at both Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary and Mass General Hospital. He has started the first otolaryngology head and neck surgery endocrine surgery fellowship through the American Head and Neck Society now in its 20th year.
Dr. Randolph has focused the bulk of his research on recurrent laryngeal nerve anatomy, preservation, and monitoring during thyroid cancer surgery with focus on importance of laryngeal exam, recognition of lymph node metastasis and revision cancer surgery with 340 peer reviewed publications, 170 chapters and 10 books. He has lead thyroid surgical missions to thyroid surgical units in St. Petersburg, Russia, Guangzhou, China, Kenya, rural India and in the Chernobyl region of the Ukraine. He founded and directs the Harvard Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery Course for surgeons and has directed international surgical courses. He has received board certification from the European Union’s Board of Surgery in Neck Endocrine Surgery. He has published an endocrine surgical text: “Surgery of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands” published by Elsevier Saunders now in its third edition as well as a text centered on surgery of the recurrent laryngeal nerve “The Recurrent and Superior Laryngeal Nerves” published by Springer Publishers now anticipating its second edition. He is currently the PI on a funded clinical trial studying the use of neoadjuvant Lenvatinib in surgery for advanced thyroid cancer (NCT04321954).
He served as President and Director of International Affairs for the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. As of 2024 Dr. Randolph has received the highest honor from the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery- he was inducted into the Hall of Distinction and as such is designated by the Academy as a “living legend” of otolaryngology head and neck surgery. He has served as chair of the Endocrine Surgery Section of the American Head and Neck Society and currently is the Chair of the Administration Division of the American Head and Neck Society and has served on the Board of Directors, Surgical Liaison for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. He has been inducted into the ACS Master Surgeon Educators Academy (MAMSE designation). Currently he is otolaryngology chair of the American Board of Otolaryngology Focus Practice Designation for thyroid surgery Work group and also the President of the World Congress on Thyroid Cancer and the International Thyroid Oncology Group, an advanced cancer clinical trials group of endocrinologists, medical oncologists, and surgeons.

Prof. Kursat GOKCAN, M.D. was graduated from Ankara University Medical School Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Program in 2004 and working as a clinical professor at the same institution since 2016. His main areas of interest are thyroid- parathyroid surgery; head and neck cancer surgery; transoral larynx cancer surgery; voice, restoration of airway in bilateral abductor vocal fold paralysis and computational fluid dynamics experiments on airway.

Professor Che-Wei Wu is the Chair and Professor of the School of Medicine at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) and the Chief of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at KMU Hospital in Taiwan. He earned his MD, MMSc, and PhD degrees from KMU. He is currently the Board Member of the International Neural Monitoring Study Group (INMSG), a Council member of the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS), a Director of Taiwan Head and Neck Society (THNS) & Taiwan Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (TSOHNS), and an editorial board member of many international journals.
Professor Wu has focused his research on applying intraoperative electrophysiologic neuromonitoring (IONM) to prevent injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) and the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (EBSLN) during thyroid and parathyroid surgery since 2005. His research team has developed an experimental animal model using continuous IONM to investigate the mechanisms of RLN injury and has developed several novel IONM techniques.
Professor Mercante is involved in several National and International Clinical Research Groups as Coordinator and Principal Investigator, with the aim to promote a multidisciplinary approach to the Head and Neck Cancer Patient in order to reach an early diagnosis and to offer a personalized treatment, also focusing on the quality of life of the patient.
His clinical activities are mainly devoted to Head and Neck surgery, particularly to thyroid and parathyroid glands surgery, minimally invasive approaches, robotic surgery and open neck surgery for laryngeal and pharyngeal cancers, major and minor salivary glands tumors, reconstructive head and neck surgery with free and pedunculated flaps, as well as to the treatment of functional pathologies through phonosurgery, endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery, sleep apnea surgery and pediatric ENT surgery.
