<p>Halil Erdem Özel, MD, is a Professor of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and the Head of Clinical Education at Kocaeli City Hospital, affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, Türkiye. He completed his medical education at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine (1995–2001) and his residency training in Otorhinolaryngology at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital (2002–2007).</p>
<p>Prof. Özel has been actively involved in academic publishing and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Kocaeli Medical Journal (since 2023), following his role as Associate Editor between 2021 and 2023. He was awarded the Turkish Board Certification in Otorhinolaryngology in 2013 and the European Board Certification in 2016.</p>
<p>His academic career includes extensive scientific contributions, with 46 articles published in international indexed journals and 17 in national journals. He has served as an editor of an international book, authored one international and three national book chapters, and presented 74 scientific abstracts at national and international congresses. Additionally, he has participated as a panelist, speaker, and course instructor in 13 scientific meetings and has contributed as an advisor to a TÜBİTAK research project.</p>
<p>Although experienced in a wide range of ENT surgical procedures, his primary clinical and research interests have increasingly focused on otology and the vestibular system in recent years.</p>
