Melis Demirag Evman
I graduated from Uskudar American Academy in 2002 and attended Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. During my medical education I visited several cIinics at University of Pensylvania School of Medicine. I worked as a GP for 1,5 years, then in 2010 I started residency program at Marmara University Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
My primary clinical and research interests include rhinology, olfactory disorders, endoscopic sinus surgery, and septal perforation repair. Throughout my training and professional practice, I focused on the functional and anatomical preservation of the sinonasal system and the development of minimally invasive endoscopic techniques for nasal and sinus disorders.
I have been working at Kartal Dr.Lutfi Kirdar City Hospital as consultant specialist since 2016.
Sessions
Utility of endonasal endoscopic approach in Sinonasal SCC
This narrated video illustrates the endoscopic endonasal approach for drainage of a petrous apex cholesterol granuloma. The surgical sequence of the procedure, starting preoperative evaluation of diagnostic imaging and concluding with the endoscopic resection of the petrous apex lesion, will be demonstrated. The intraoperative findings that influence the key steps taken in this procedure will be discussed. In appropriately selected patients, the endoscopic transsphenoidal approach provides an effective method to surgically treat a petrous apex cholesterol granuloma.
the outcome objectives for the audience are to (1) recognize the presentation of a petrous apex cholesterol granuloma based upon diagnostic imaging; (2) understand the surgical sequence in the endonasal transsphenoidal drainage of a petrous apex cholesterol granuloma; and (3) appreciate the feasibility of the endoscopic approach to surgically manage certain petrous apex lesions.
Abstract:
this lecture will focus on the surgical treatment of pituitary adenomas using a video-based teaching format. Pituitary adenomas are among the most common intracranial tumors, and endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery remains the gold standard approach for their removal. By integrating high-definition intraoperative videos, this session aims to enhance understanding of key surgical steps, anatomical landmarks, and complication management.
objectives:
to review the classification, clinical presentation, and radiologic features of pituitary adenomas.
to demonstrate the surgical anatomy relevant to the transsphenoidal approach.
to illustrate the step-by-step technique of endoscopic pituitary adenoma resection using operative videos.
to discuss potential complications and their prevention strategies.
to offer a practical insight into decision-making during surgery.
format:
the presentation will be a 7-minute session, including narrated surgical videos and clinical case correlations.
target audience:
neurosurgeons, ENT surgeons, endocrinologists, neurology residents, and medical students with an interest in neuroendocrinology or skull base surgery.
expected outcome:
participants will gain practical surgical insights into pituitary adenoma resection, develop a better understanding of skull base anatomy, and be more prepared to manage these tumors surgically or in a multidisciplinary team setting
Dear members of the scientific committee,
i hope this message finds you well. My name is melis demirag evman, and i am a specialist in otolaryngology at kartal dr.Lutfi kirdar city hospital, turkey. I would like to express my interest in contributing to the upcoming IFOSTANBUL 2026 by delivering a talk on endoscopic septal perforation repair techniques.
in my clinical practice and research, i have focused on the refinement of endoscopic surgical techniques for septal perforation repair, emphasizing minimally invasive approaches, mucosal flap design, and postoperative management strategies. My video presentation would summarize various surgical techniques of endoscopic septal perforation repair.
given the continuing evolution of transnasal endoscopic approaches and their importance in functional nasal surgery, i believe this topic would provide valuable practical and academic insights for especially attending ENT surgeons.
with kind regards,
melis demirag evman m.D., FEBORL-HNS
