Hakan Kara
Dr. Hakan Kara is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Istanbul University. He is also a PhD student at the Department of Immunology, Aziz Sancar Institute of Experimental Medicine. His clinical and academic work focuses on rhinology, chronic rhinosinusitis, nasal polyposis, endoscopic skull base surgery, and sinonasal tumors. His research investigates the immunopathogenesis of sinonasal inflammatory diseases, with particular emphasis on T helper cell subsets and cytokine profiling. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Kara is actively engaged in translational research integrating clinical rhinology and immunology to advance the understanding of inflammatory airway diseases and sinonasal tumors and to support the development of targeted therapeutic strategies.

this presentation focuses on the surgical management of frontoethmoid sinus osteomas, emphasizing endoscopic and combined approaches for safe and effective tumor removal. Using operative video and case examples, the session will demonstrate patient selection, preoperative imaging assessment, surgical planning, and intraoperative techniques for tumor excision while preserving surrounding structures. Endoscopic removal strategies, management of large or complex osteomas, prevention of orbital or skull base complications, and reconstruction when necessary will be highlighted. Postoperative care, including imaging follow-up and symptom monitoring, will also be discussed.

Endoscopic surgical techniques provide minimally invasive access with lower morbidity compared to open procedures.
