Dr. Mariam Shadi is an Assistant Professor of Phoniatrics, ENT Department, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. She has a special interest in the diagnosis and managment of voice and swallowing disorders in adults and pediatrics with over 20 years of experience. She is also an active member of the UEP (Union of European Phoniatricians) Swallowing Committee.

Ana Đanić Hadžibegović is ENT specialist, subspecialised in phoniatrics and somnology, at Clinical Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, University Hospital Centre Zagreb.

As associate professor, she teaches at University of Osijek at Faculty of Dental Medicine and Healthcare, and at University of Zagreb at Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, at School of Medicine and Academy of music.

She is general secretary of European Academy of Phoniatrics and member of the UEP Educational and Swallowing committee. She is also Croatian national coordinator of Union of the European Phoniatricians. She is vice president of the Croatian phoniatric society and member of Croatian ENT Society, Croatian audiology and Phoniatrics society, Croatian Society for Head and Neck Tumours and Croatian Sleep Science Society.

She is particularly interested in diagnosis and treatment of swallowing and voice impairments and obstructive sleep apnoea. Research topics prevention, diagnostics and treatment of swallowing and voice disorders; drug induced sleep endoscopy and OSA surgery.

In 2024 she won 2nd place for UEP Young Phoniatrician Award. In 2016 she won first prize of Jorge Perello Fundation for her reaserach on influence of extra-esophageal reflux on the occurrence of voice prosthesis complications and voice Quality at 28th European Congress of Phoniatrics in Bilbao, Spain.

She has organised many international interdisciplinary courses on oropharyngeal dysphagia, office based laryngeal procedures, OSA - diagnosis and treatment. In 2019 and 2024 she was the course director of 5th and 8th EAP course on voice and swallowing and 2nd BLA/UEP joint meeting in Zagreb.

She is author or co-author in more than 40 published research papers in international peer reviewed journals, in more than 27 book chapters and she gave more than 70 presentations. 

Sam Majumdar is a founding member of the British Laryngology Association and has served on its council since 2013. He is a Laryngologist, full-time Consultant Surgeon, and Honorary Reader at the University of Dundee Medical School and Ninewells Hospital, NHS Scotland. He is the lead clinician for Laryngology and voice, swallowing disorders (Transnasal Oesophagoscopy/Endoscopy), and the difficult airway service at the centre-services he developed with his team. He also leads the steering group establishing training and practice standards for Transnasal Endoscopy/Oesophagoscopy and serves as Deputy Director of Education for ENT UK.

He graduated in Medicine from the University of Nottingham Medical School, following substantial training in Maxillofacial Surgery and the award of Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He was also awarded a PhD for his doctoral research on leadership, followership, and relational sustainability. Passionate about teaching and training, he is an internationally acclaimed speaker, teacher, and trainer.

Sam Majumdar is a Fellow of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme, delivered by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, and Deputy Lead for Scotland for Quality Improvement at the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. He has published widely in the medical literature and peer-reviewed journals on all aspects of ENT surgery, presented nationally and internationally, and delivered invited and keynote lectures. He is Co-Editor of the 10th edition of Current Practice in Otolaryngology, a seminal textbook, and a co-author of chapters in other seminal textbooks.

Professor Miroslav Tedla, MD, MPH, PhD is a Chairman of the Department of ORL- HNS at the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital of the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia.  He is a member of several international societies, CORLAS member and at the moment serves as a Treasurer of European Laryngological Society and the President Elect of  the Confederation of European ORL- HNS.

Dr. Tedla is a main author of three textbooks, author/co-author of more than 130 in extenso scientific papers/book chapters and is regularly invited to present at the international venues. His main clinical and research interests include Thyroid and Paratyhyroid Surgery, Head and Neck Cancer, Voice, Airway and Dysphagia. 

Miss Hey is a fellowship-trained Consultant ENT Surgeon and Laryngologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, and also holds a visiting clinical role at King’s College Hospital. She specialises in voice, swallowing and airway disorders, with a particular interest in the care of professional and artistic voice users.

After graduating from the University of Edinburgh and completing specialist ENT training in Scotland, she undertook a Royal College of Surgeons of England-accredited Laryngology Fellowship at Guy’s Hospital. Her subspecialist interest in phonomicrosurgery, neurolaryngology and artistic voice care was further augmented through international travelling fellowships at the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center in Boston and the University Hospital of Rouen in France.

Miss Hey is passionate about education and is an elected member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is frequently invited as faculty at national and international training events and holds several leadership roles, including council member of the British Laryngological Association, Director of the Written Examination for the European Examination Board in Laryngology, and Director of mentoring programme at Young European Laryngological Society. Within the Union of European Phoniatricians, she serves on the voice committee and is the invited host of its official podcast, The UEP Voice Box, which reaches an international audience. She is also a member of the International Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis Task Force and a Fellow of the Collegium Medicorum Theatri.

She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, delivered invited lectures at academic meetings, and received awards for both academic and clinical excellence. She is actively involved in advancing clinical practice and patient care, including recent work on office-based laryngology published through NHS England’s Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) initiative. Her wider work reflects a strong commitment to education, innovation and international collaboration across ENT and laryngology.
