samit majumdar

Sam Majumdar is a founding member of the British Laryngology Association and has served on its council since 2013. He is a Laryngologist, full-time Consultant Surgeon, and Honorary Reader at the University of Dundee Medical School and Ninewells Hospital, NHS Scotland. He is the lead clinician for Laryngology and voice, swallowing disorders (Transnasal Oesophagoscopy/Endoscopy), and the difficult airway service at the centre-services he developed with his team. He also leads the steering group establishing training and practice standards for Transnasal Endoscopy/Oesophagoscopy and serves as Deputy Director of Education for ENT UK.

He graduated in Medicine from the University of Nottingham Medical School, following substantial training in Maxillofacial Surgery and the award of Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He was also awarded a PhD for his doctoral research on leadership, followership, and relational sustainability. Passionate about teaching and training, he is an internationally acclaimed speaker, teacher, and trainer.

Sam Majumdar is a Fellow of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme, delivered by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, and Deputy Lead for Scotland for Quality Improvement at the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. He has published widely in the medical literature and peer-reviewed journals on all aspects of ENT surgery, presented nationally and internationally, and delivered invited and keynote lectures. He is Co-Editor of the 10th edition of Current Practice in Otolaryngology, a seminal textbook, and a co-author of chapters in other seminal textbooks.
