With advancements in imaging, instrumentation, and minimally invasive techniques, the outpatient setting has become a viable and effective environment for managing a wide range of laryngeal conditions. Through case-based learning, and a review of the latest evidence, participants will gain insight into optimizing patient selection, procedural planning, anesthetic techniques, complication management, and post-procedure care.

background: the shift toward in-office laryngeal procedures has transformed the field of laryngology, offering patients faster recovery, reduced costs, and improved access to care. However, variability in techniques, equipment, and experience can affect outcomes. This course addresses the growing need for standardization and optimization in office-based laryngologic care. It will offer a structured approach to achieving safe, effective, and patient-centered outcomes.
The purpose of this instructional course is to underscore the importance of patient selection, proper anesthesia and instrument handling in office based laryngological procedures. The course will include video demonstration of available techniques for office injections, laser procedures, biopsies, transnasal esophagoscopies. The audience will become familiarized with the indications, pros and cons, and will learn the pearls and pitfalls of theses procedures.
Dr. Hantzakos is a Consultant Otolaryngologist – Head & Neck Surgeon and director of the Voice Clinic at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). He is Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA. He received his Medical Degree in 1991 from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He completed his basic surgical training at Emory University in Atlanta, USA, and received his Specialist Certification in Otorhinolaryngology from the 1st Department of ORL-HNS of NKUA. He received additional training as a Senior Registrar in the East Anglia Deanery Training Scheme in the UK. He has obtained a fellowship in Phonosurgery and Laryngeal Laser Surgery in 2006 from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery of the University of Louvain at Mont-Godinne University Hospital in Belgium. He earned his PhD degree from the NKUA in 2003 and holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the Hellenic Open University since 2015.
He is a member of the advisory board of the International Association of Phonosurgeons. He is an examiner and a fellow of the European Board Examinations in Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery. He is also a member of the Voice Foundation. He has authored numerous papers in peer – reviewed international journals, numerous full articles and cited abstracts in conference proceedings, and chapters in national and international textbooks and books. He served as a member of the Scientific Council of the European Laryngological Society (ELS) and as chairman and member of various study groups and committees within the ELS and serves as the national representative of the UAE in World Voice Day.
Dr. Hantzakos enjoys his free time with his wife, Amanda, and their son. He is also an avid long-distance runner and has participated in many running and triathlon competitions.
Dr. Ozan Tüysüz is an otorhinolaryngologist currently practicing at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital, University of Health Sciences, in Istanbul, Türkiye. He graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine and completed his residency training in Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Göztepe Training and Research Hospital.
His main clinical and academic interests include facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, facial rejuvenation and facelift surgery, laryngology, and head and neck surgery. In his clinical practice, he is particularly interested in contemporary facial plastic surgery techniques and the surgical management of functional and aesthetic disorders of the face and neck. His academic work also focuses on laryngology, voice and swallowing disorders, and head and neck diseases.
Dr. Tüysüz is actively involved in national professional organizations and scientific activities within the field of otorhinolaryngology. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, the Facial Plastic Surgery Association, the Phoniatrics Association, and the Voice and Swallowing Disorders Association. Through his clinical practice and academic activities, he continues to contribute to the fields of facial plastic surgery, laryngology, and head and neck surgery, with a particular interest in integrating current surgical techniques and evidence-based approaches into patient care.
