<p>Professor Hisham Mehanna is the Chair of Head and Neck Surgery, and Director of the Institute of Head and Neck Studies and Education, at the University of Birmingham, UK.</p> <p>Hisham’s clinical interests are recurrence head and neck cancer surgery. Prof Mehanna established and ran the UK’s first clinic dedicated to the multi-disciplinary treatment of head and neck and thyroid cancer recurrence.</p> <p>Hisham has a keen interest in clinical and translational research, heading a research team of 20 researchers, and holding over £17 million in research grants. His main area of his research revolves around improving the management of head and neck cancer through the use of innovative treatments and dynamic risk stratification and assessment. His research spans translational research, early and late phase clinical trials. He is chief investigator of several multicentre and multinational clinical trials, including the PET NECK trial (published in the NEJM in 2016), and the De-escalate study (Lancet 2018) and EPIC HPV (Lancet Onc 2023).</p> <p>He is also the President of the Head and Neck Cancer International Group (the umbrella organisation of 22 national clinical trials groups), and past President of the British Association of Head Neck Oncologists (BAHNO), and past Chair of the UK’s National Cancer Research Institute’s head and neck group, responsible for all head neck cancer research in the UK.</p>

<p>Enis Ozyar M.D., graduated from Ankara University, Medical School, Ankara, Turkey in 1985 and finished his residency at Hacettepe University, School of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology, Ankara in 1993. He worked at the same department between 1993-2008. He obtained his associate professor degree in 1998 and professor degree in 2003. He was appointed as Chair and Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Acibadem MAA University, School of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology, Istanbul, Turkey in 2008. He is also charing Acibadem RTT school and Health Physics programme of Acibadem MAA University.</p> <p>Dr. Ozyar currently works at flaghship hospital – Acibadem Maslak Hospital – of the Acibadem Health Group (AHG). AHG is the largest private health care group in Turkey and have 8 Radiation Oncology centers equipped with high tech systems such as MRIdian Mr-Linac, IGRT-IMRT-SRT linac systems, robotic linacs, Gammaknife, brachytherapy and intraoperative radiotherapy.</p> <p>Dr. Özyar pioneered MR-guided adaptive radiation therapy in Turkey, an innovative approach that utilizes MRI scans, offers superior soft tissue imaging, and enhances tumor targeting compared to conventional CT scans. Under his supervision, Acibadem Healthcare Group began treatments with this system in 2018, offering Turkey's first MRI-guided radiotherapy treatments and within 5 years, it marked treatment of 1000 patients and became the 9th site worldwide to have achieved this milestone.</p>
