In 1996, I entered the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Republic (UdelaR) in Montevideo, Uruguay, obtaining my PhD in Medicine in 2004. In 2004, I completed my first internship at the Insular University Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, where I specifically trained in the specialty of Otorhinolaryngology. I returned to the country to begin my ENT residency at the ENT Department of the Hospital de Clínicas in Montevideo, Uruguay, obtaining my specialist degree in 2008. I completed internships and fellowships in various countries such as Spain, the USA, Argentina, and Brazil. Since 1997, I have coordinated the Early Hearing Loss Detection Program at Médica Uruguaya. Since 2012, I have represented Uruguay at the Pan-American Association of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery as the Uruguayan delegate. President of the IV Course of said Association in 2017 in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He currently continues as a delegate of the Pan-American Association of ENT and CCC, with the position of Vice - President for the period 2022 - 2024. In Uruguay, my teaching career consisted of a position as Assistant of the ENT Chair at the Hospital de Clínicas, until 2017. Active member of: ENT Society of Uruguay, American Academy of ENT and CCC, Spanish Society of ENT and CCC, Pan-American Association of ENT and CCC. Master's degree in Advanced Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery from the International University of Andalusia (2022 - 2023). Coordinator of the Continuing Medical Education Commission of the ENT Society of Uruguay (SORLU). Secretary of the SORLU period 2024 - 2025. Member of the Otology Committee of the Pan-American Association of ENT and CCC.

Dr. Goldsztein is a Board-Certified Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon and has extensive training in Otolaryngology and Skull Base Surgery.  He graduated Magna cum Laude from medical school at the University of Buenos Aires and completed clinical research fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary.  His residency training at the University of Maryland, was followed by a clinical and surgical fellowship in Otology & Neurotology at the California Ear Institute.

He performs surgery to restore hearing including ear surgery to restore the hearing bones, cochlear implants and bone implanted hearing aids.  He oversees Pacific ENT audiology services which provides comprehensive hearing evaluations and hearing aids.

During Dr. Goldsztein’ s training, he provided medical care to patients in Cambodia and Peru. These services earned him the nomination for the Dean’s Community Service Award at Harvard Medical School. In 2009, he received the American Academy of Otolaryngology/ Head & Neck Surgery’s (AAO/H&NS) Resident Humanitarian Travel Grant. In 2011 he earned the Resident Leadership Grant from the AAO/H&NS, and in 2012 he was awarded the Fellow Leadership Grant from AAO/H&NS. Dr. Goldsztein was also awarded the 2016 San Diego County Medical Society Foundation Health Hero Award and the Champion of the Year in 2024. Dr. Goldsztein has received numerous other honors and awards, and currently, he serves as a volunteer physician-surgeon with local and international humanitarian associations. He is a past chair of the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s Panamerican Society and currently serves as the Regional Advisor to Latin America for the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

He is the Chief of Otolaryngology at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
