Insidious enemy in revision rhinoplasty: Non-floral colonization
09-09, 17:15–17:30 (Europe/Istanbul), Facial Plastic 3

Infection is a critical but often underrecognized factor in revision rhinoplasty. It may cause structural deformity, biofilm formation, chronic inflammation, adverse effects on grafts and implants, and scar formation.

Even low grade or subclinical infections can signifiacantly affect both functional and aesthetic outcomes and may be an underlying cause of rhinoplasty failure. There is usually a diagnostic challenge when patients present without classic signs such as erythema, drainage or fever. Implications for surgical planning should be identified.

Dr. Gunhan is an ORL professor at Celal Bayar Univesity and private practice, dedicated to education, research and patient centered care and contemporary surgical techniques focused on rhinology. He has clinical and experimental studies mostly on rhinoplasty (mostly revision), paranasal sinus diseases, allergy, olfactory loss and sleep disorders that he also provides comprehensive services. He is a distinguished member of many ORL societies and currently is the Secretary General of Turkish Facial Plastic Surgery Society.
