Prof. Ayşegül Batıoğlu Karaaltın, MD, is a Professor of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Türkiye. She graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and completed her residency training in otorhinolaryngology in 2006. Her clinical and academic interests focus on head and neck surgery, laryngology, airway surgery, tracheal diseases, otology, and smell and taste disorders, with particular expertise in the management of complex airway disorders. Prof. Karaaltın has authored numerous national and international scientific articles, as well as book chapters, and has served as an editor for scientific books and journals in the field of otolaryngology. Her current research focuses on tissue engineering approaches for tracheal transplantation, voice restoration techniques, three-dimensional biotechnological and 3D-printing-assisted reconstruction models, and the development of 3D-printed surgical training models for otolaryngology education. She is also involved in research integrating artificial intelligence in otolaryngology. Prof. Batıoğlu-Karaaltın actively contributes to medical student and ENT resident education through lectures, surgical training, and academic mentorship, and regularly participates in national and international scientific meetings and multidisciplinary research collaborations.
