<p>Professor Chan is currently Clinical Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He also is the Assistant Dean (Student Development) for the Faculty of Medicine. With a global perspective following graduating from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in London, specialist training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions with advanced training in Head and Neck surgery, microvascular reconstruction and robotics.Professor Chan’s clinical expertise covers the full breadth of head and neck surgery, including a focus on minimally invasive approaches, in particular, transoral robotic approaches for head and neck tumours. His current area of research is focused on the role of the microbiome in head and neck cancers and the development of endoluminal robotics in surgery for which he has received numerous grants and Co-Founded a robotics startup - Agilis Robotics Ltd. In addition, he serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery, the official journal of the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and has over 100 peer reviewed published journal articles.</p>

<p>Sara Isabel Pai, M.D., Ph.D., FACS: Dr. Pai is a Professor of Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. She received an A.B. from Dartmouth College with a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. She completed the M.D./Ph.D. program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she completed her Ph.D. training in cancer immunology and vaccines. She completed her otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her research interests focus on better understanding how human papillomavirus (HPV) evades the immune system and strategies that can be applied to reactivate the host immune response against HPV-mediated tumors through vaccines and immune-modulatory drugs. She leads several investigator-initiated immunotherapy clinical trials and has a translational research laboratory that has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 2007. She is the Director of an NCI Program Project (P01) Grant, co-chair of the NIDCR AHEAD Early Detection Cancer Research Network, and the Disease Leader for Head and Neck Cancer for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. She serves on national and international grant review panels and the advisory boards for several pharmaceutical companies.</p>
