Step by Step: Total Laryngectomy

<p>1 - Description:</p> <p>Total laryngectomy remains the gold standard surgical treatment for advanced-stage laryngeal carcinoma, especially in cases where organ-preserving protocols have failed or are contraindicated. This instructional session will provide a stepwise overview of the total laryngectomy procedure. Participants will review surgical anatomy, incision planning, organ mobilization, pharyngeal reconstruction, and tracheostoma creation. The session also addresses key decision-making in salvage versus primary laryngectomy, complications such as pharyngocutaneous fistula. <p>I graduated from Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 2009. I completed my residency in Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery in 2015. I started working as a specialist in Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery in 2018 . I am still working as an associate professor at the same institution. My areas of interest are; head and neck oncologic surgery, anterior skull base surgery.</p>
