1 - Description:

Total laryngectomy remains the gold standard surgical treatment for advanced-stage laryngeal carcinoma, especially in cases where organ-preserving protocols have failed or are contraindicated. This instructional session will provide a stepwise overview of the total laryngectomy procedure. Participants will review surgical anatomy, incision planning, organ mobilization, pharyngeal reconstruction, and tracheostoma creation. The session also addresses key decision-making in salvage versus primary laryngectomy, complications such as pharyngocutaneous fistula. Real case examples, surgical videos, and evidence-based strategies will enhance the learning experience.
