Dr. Kyung Tae is a professor in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea. He is also the founder and Director of the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) and the Director of Hanyang University Hospital Cancer Center. He served as the President of the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2014-2015 and vice president of the Korean Thyroid Association in 2016-2017. Dr. Tae also served as General-Secretary of the Korean Society of Thyroid, Head and Neck Surgery, and the Korean Society of Head and Neck Oncology.
His primary clinical and research interests include thyroid/parathyroid surgery, especially robotic and endoscopic thyroid surgery, and head and neck oncology. He is an expert on robotic thyroid and head and neck surgery. He has published more than 350 articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
Professor Mercante is involved in several National and International Clinical Research Groups as Coordinator and Principal Investigator, with the aim to promote a multidisciplinary approach to the Head and Neck Cancer Patient in order to reach an early diagnosis and to offer a personalized treatment, also focusing on the quality of life of the patient.
His clinical activities are mainly devoted to Head and Neck surgery, particularly to thyroid and parathyroid glands surgery, minimally invasive approaches, robotic surgery and open neck surgery for laryngeal and pharyngeal cancers, major and minor salivary glands tumors, reconstructive head and neck surgery with free and pedunculated flaps, as well as to the treatment of functional pathologies through phonosurgery, endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery, sleep apnea surgery and pediatric ENT surgery.
TZU-YEN HUANG received his MD degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2009; and his PhD degree in Biological Science and Technology from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2022. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the School of Post-Baccalaureate Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He is also the Chief of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Kaohsiung Medical University Gangshan Hospital. His clinical research focuses on thyroid and parathyroid surgery, laryngology, post-thyroidectomy dysphonia, parotid gland surgery, intraoperative neuromonitoring for recurrent laryngeal nerve and facial nerve, and head and neck surgery.
