Description:Orbital injury during endoscopic sinus surgery.

Orbital complications are among the most important and potentially serious complications of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS).

  • Orbital hematoma

  • Orbital emphysema

  • Periorbital/orbital ecchymosis and edema

  • Extraocular muscle injury

  • Orbital fat injury or herniation

  • Optic nerve injury

  • Injury to the ophthalmic artery or other orbital vessels

Early recognition is essential. Visual loss, proptosis, severe orbital pain, restricted eye movements, or rapidly increasing orbital swelling require immediate assessment and appropriate management.

Case report - Orbital fat injury and herniation. CT scans before and after surgery.
