Dr. Aliaa Khidr

Dr. Aliaa Khidr is a Professor of Phoniatrics and a Fulbright Scholar with more than three decades of academic and clinical experience. She served on the faculty of Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, as well as the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dr. Khidr’s scholarly work focuses on functional voice disorders and outcomes of medical, surgical, and behavioral voice therapy, with particular emphasis on the Smith Accent Technique. Her research also examines the vocal profiles and challenges of future professional speakers and weightlifters.

A strong advocate for voice health and professional voice development, Dr. Khidr has worked extensively to expand voice health and development programs for professional speakers and to provide specialized training for graduate students in speech-language pathology and education, both locally and internationally.
