this is a panel about the management of Rheumatological manifestations in Larynx
This panel will explore the physiological characteristics, phoniatric aspects, and common voice-related problems encountered among traditional and turkish folk artists. These vocal traditions often require distinctive phonatory strategies, including prolonged phonation, high-intensity singing, extensive ornamentation, register transitions, and culturally specific resonance patterns that may differ substantially from western classical vocal techniques.
the panel will bring together clinical and artistic perspectives to discuss the normal physiological adaptations associated with traditional singing, the boundary between functional vocal behavior and pathology, and the most frequent problems seen in professional folk singers. Particular attention will be given to laryngeal biomechanics, vocal load, supraglottic activity, breathing patterns, resonance strategies, and the impact of performance habits on vocal health.
preventive approaches, early diagnosis, voice therapy, medical and surgical management, and collaboration between phoniatricians, otolaryngologists, voice therapists, and vocal instructors will also be discussed.

traditional and folk singing styles represent an important part of cultural identity and often involve highly specialized vocal techniques developed through long-standing artistic traditions. However, the physiological and clinical characteristics of these techniques remain insufficiently represented in conventional phoniatric literature, which has historically focused predominantly on western classical singing.
turkish and regional folk artists may employ vocal behaviors that appear unusual during standard laryngeal examination but may represent normal adaptations to a specific musical style. At the same time, the high vocal demands of professional performance can predispose singers to functional and organic voice disorders.
a culturally informed phoniatric approach is therefore essential for accurate assessment, prevention, and treatment. This panel aims to bridge traditional vocal practice and modern voice medicine, promoting evidence-based and artist-centered solutions for professional voice care.
