Derek J. Lam MD, MPH is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon, USA. He completed his medical school, residency, and Masters of Public Health at the University of Washington in Seattle and a Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Lam is a clinician-scientist and studies the diagnosis and surgical management of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea, supported by two R61/R33 grants through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. His other clinical interests include dysphagia management, airway reconstruction, and surgical management of adult sleep apnea, including upper airway stimulation.
I am Full Professor of Otolaryngology at the Botucatu Medical School of the State University of São Paulo, FMB-UNESP, Brazil. I am linked as an active professor to the pos graduate program “Surgery and Translational Medicine” at the FMB, rated 5 by CAPES. During the period 2018-2025 I received the CNPq researcher bolsary level 2. I am responsible for the Sleep Lab and the ambulatories of Sleep Medicine (adults and children) at the University Hospital HCFMB since 2009. Actually, I am the Technical Director of Health Assistance of the University Hospital HCFMB.
