Intracranial complications secondary to chronic otitis media
09-12, 08:00–08:30 (Europe/Istanbul), Otology 6

Through the presentation of clinical cases, the result of 15 years of experience in the field of otology, we briefly describe the pathology of chronic otitis media, and then explain how this pathology and its different presentations can lead to intracranial and extracranial complications. We take an approach that includes etiological, pathophysiological, and imaging diagnosis, before moving on to the treatment and prognosis of each particular case according to the associated complication. This course is enriched by the multidisciplinary approach required for this type of pathology, explaining neurosurgical techniques, imaging studies, relevant bacteriological studies, and concluding with the pharmacological and surgical otolaryngological treatment proposed for each type of complication. The variety of clinical cases facilitates the explanation of the different types of management that should be taken in relation to chronic otitis media and its possible complications.

For both colleagues, Dr. Hernan Goldsztein and myself, Dr. Gabriel Charlone, it would be a great honor and a wonderful opportunity to share our experience working in different centers (USA and Uruguay) on this type of pathology, which continues to have a severe impact on patients. We will explain our experience through clinical cases with varied presentations. The collaborative approach with different areas of medicine enriches the presentation, addressing topics such as neurosurgery, infectious diseases, radiology, and other fields.
