Description :

How the deal with a dizzy patient in the ER

Outcome Objectives :

One of the common presentations to the ER are patients complaining of dizziness. It is essential to triage these patients and distinguish the urgent and less urgent cases

Background:

Dizziness, instability and vertigo account for up to 11 % of ER presentations and up to 37% of these are misdiagnosed. Some have simple benign pathologies and others have more sinister disorders which can progress to serious cerebrovascular problems. The aim of this course is to guide the physicians with limited interest in vestiobulogy to distinguish between these cases in a simple and reliable way in order not to miss the serious cases and at the same time to avoid the overload of the healthcare system in time, money and resources in straightforward cases.
