Almost 100% of otitis media cases in children are treated in the primary care sector in Denmark. There is a high level of public satisfaction with this local healthcare service, which also includes the placement of drains and uncomplicated myringoplasties. Only a small fraction of children with otitis media need to be assessed and treated in a hospital.
