Maria Rosaria Barillari, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Audiology and Phoniatrics at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, Naples, Italy, Head of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Speech and Language Therapy at the same University and Consultant Audio-Phoniatrician at the affiliated University Hospital. Primary research focus is clinical laryngology, with particular expertise in laryngopharyngeal reflux disease, pediatric dysphonia, relationship between voice disorders and psychological distress and elderly voice. She has coordinated many national and international research initiatives in the field of phoniatrics and laryngology and contributed to the development of European clinical practice guidelines on LPRD.In the field of audiology, she works within a National Referral Center for Rare Ocular Diseases, collaborating in the identification and characterization of rare genetic syndromes presenting with combined visual and hearing impairment. Autorship in over hundred peer-reviewed scientific publications and textbooks. Membership on various scientific societes (CEORL, ELS, UEP, IFOS, SIAF) and editorial boards. She currently serves as National Secretary of the Italian Society of Audiology and Phoniatrics (SIAF) and is Chair of the Laryngology Study Group of YO-IFOS.
