We will introduce electrical stimulation therapy for dysphagia, including interferential current stimulation and high-voltage pulsed current stimulation to improve swallowing response and laryngeal excursion, respectively.
Dysphagia is complex and sometimes hard to improve. Electrical stimulation therapy can facilitate swallowing rehabilitation and may serve as additional therapy for severe dysphagia.
Emel Çadallı Tatar, M.D. is a Professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. She has graduated from Hacettepe University, School of Medicine in 1999 and completed her Otolaryngology residency in 2004 at the same university. She was an otolaryngologist between 2007-2010, an attending otolaryngologist between 2010-2013, an associate professor between 2013-2020 and a professor since 2020. She has over 110 articles published atnational/international journals and over 425 citations.

He graduated from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in 2001 and got a Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Medical Science, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine 2010. He studied at the University of Pittsburgh as a postdoctoral fellow from 2010 to 2011. He worked in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, from 2012. Assistant professor (2015 – 2017), Lecturer (2017-2024). He worked as a professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Saga University Faculty of Medicine, since 2024. He is a specialist in Laryngology. He majors in clinical and basic Laryngology, particularly voice and swallowing disorders. His research interest is neuronal mechanisms underlying swallowing and vocalization based on electrophysiology.
