Prof. Ilana Doweck, MD, is Chair of The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Carmel Medical Center, affiliated to The Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, and Immediate Past President of The Israeli Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Prof Doweck obtained her MD degree from the Technion Medical School, Haifa, Israel, and completed her residency at Carmel Medical Center, Haifa, followed by fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Memphis and at The University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. Following her fellowship Prof. Doweck lead the head and neck cancer surgery and oncology team in north Israel and served in multiple roles within the Israeli Society of Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology. She served as the President of the Israel Society of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at 2013-2019, and currently is the leading head and neck surgeon in Israel. Prof Doweck served as The Head of Section of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at The Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion, as well as counselor of The Israeli Cancer Association and member of the Scientific Council of the Israel Medical Association.

Prof. Doweck academic focus is on head and neck cancer and oncology, including outcomes based research in head and neck with particular focus on outcome related to organ preservation and chemoradiotherapy, thyroid cancer, metastatic and recurrent,  advanced and metastatic cutaneous SCC as well as translational research in head and neck cancer, including stem cells in solid tumor and in head and neck cancer, angiogenesis and expression of heparanase in head and neck cancer, Ubiquitin ligase KPC1 and tumor suppression- in head and neck cancer. Prof. Doweck received several awards on her research regarding tumor markers in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
