<p>Ankyloglossia: What is the science?</p>

<p>In some parts of the word many children are undergoing surgical treatment for ankyloglossia. This session will review the scientific literature regarding indications for frenotomy/frenuloplasty as well as the care of the child before and after the procedure. Controversial indications, including the supporting and contradictory literature will also be reviewed.</p>

<p>Dr. Anna Messner is a Professor of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. She serves as Chief of the pediatric otolaryngology division at Texas Children’s Hospital and in this role she oversees a group of 31 pediatric otolaryngologists. Dr. Messner is a Past-President of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, and the current President of the American Society of University Otolaryngologists. She serves as a Senior Examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery and is a past Associate Editor for Pediatrics for the journal Laryngoscope.</p>
