Energy Management in Hearing Aids: Rechargeable Batteries and Sustainability
09-11, 17:00–17:30 (Europe/Istanbul), Hearing Aids 1

The presentation aims to highlight the importance of energy use and rechargeable batteries in hearing aids. In the past, individuals using hearing aids had to change batteries frequently, which was both inconvenient and harmful to the environment due to battery waste. In recent years, with the development of rechargeable batteries, users can now use their devices much more easily. These systems are both more economical and environmentally friendly. Moreover, with new technologies, battery life is getting longer, and devices are becoming more reliable. This presentation will explain, in simple terms, how this change benefits both users and the environment.

I completed my undergraduate studies in 2018 and my master’s degree in 2021. Since 2018, I have been working in a clinical setting focusing on improving speech understanding in noise, auditory processing, and hidden hearing loss in individuals using hearing aids. Together with my thesis students, we are investigating the effects of different ear molds on acoustic properties. Since 2020, I have been teaching the Acoustic and Phonetic Principles course in the Audiology and Hearing Aid Technology (Audiometry) programs, and the Hearing Aids course in the Audiometry program. In addition, through the Community Service Practices elective course I offer university-wide, I conduct projects on waste management and support for disadvantaged groups.

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University in 1992. I completed specialty training in 1996, which I started in 1992, and became an Otorhinolaryngologist.
