Managing Costal Cartilage Harvest Complications in Rhinoplasty
09-10, 10:45–11:00 (Europe/Istanbul), Facial Plastic 2

This presentation will focus on the use of costal cartilage grafts in complex rhinoplasty and the complications that may occur during cartilage harvesting.

Three real surgical cases will be presented using intraoperative videos, demonstrating different complication scenarios encountered during costal cartilage harvest.

Each case will highlight the recognition of the complication, intraoperative decision-making, and surgical management, along with technical considerations for prevention.

Costal cartilage is frequently used in complex and revision rhinoplasty; however, its harvest is not free of complications.

This presentation aims to share a real-life surgical experience involving an unexpected complication during costal cartilage harvesting, focusing on intraoperative decision-making, complication management, and preventive strategies.

By presenting the complication, its immediate management, and postoperative outcome, the goal is to provide practical lessons that may help surgeons anticipate, prevent, and effectively manage similar situations in their own practice.
