My Experience with Coblation Plasma–Assisted Adenotonsillar Surgery and Intracapsular Tonsillectomy
The purpose of this proposal is to present a structured and experience-based overview of coblation plasma–assisted adenotonsillar surgery, with particular emphasis on intracapsular tonsillectomy. The presentation aims to demonstrate the surgical technique, define appropriate indications, and highlight technical considerations that contribute to procedural safety and efficacy. By integrating intraoperative visualization with clinical experience, this video seeks to contribute to the standardization of intracapsular tonsillectomy and to support its evidence-informed application as a tissue-preserving alternative to conventional extracapsular tonsillectomy in contemporary otolaryngologic practice.
I am a Professor of Otorhinolaryngology and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine, Türkiye.
My main clinical and academic interests include pediatric otolaryngology, particularly adenotonsillar diseases and surgery, coblation-assisted techniques, advanced otologic and neurotologic surgery, sleep medicine, and vestibular disorders. My research also focuses on chronic otitis media, cholesteatoma, otosclerosis, pediatric middle-ear disease, hearing and vestibular assessment, and sleep-disordered breathing. I have authored and co-authored numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals and contributed chapters to academic books in the fields of otorhinolaryngology and sleep medicine. My work has included clinical and surgical outcome studies as well as research on inflammatory, hormonal, and molecular biomarkers in otologic disorders.
In addition to my clinical and research activities, I am actively involved in residency training, postgraduate education, academic mentorship, and scientific meetings at both national and international levels. I have supervised otorhinolaryngology residency theses and regularly contribute to academic and professional education.
