Preservation rhinoplasty (PR) has emerged as a transformative approach in nasal surgery, emphasizing conservation of native nasal structures—particularly the dorsum and ligaments—while achieving aesthetic and functional improvements.
However, the technique has a steep learning curve, and many early-career or traditionally trained surgeons lack formal exposure to preservation methods. This creates a strong need for beginner-focused education that simplifies the principles, techniques, and decision-making involved in preservation rhinoplasty.
Introduce core concepts and indications of preservation rhinoplasty.
Teach step-by-step techniques (e.g., push-down, let-down, high septal strip) using didactics and simulation.
Provide hands-on training via cadaver dissection or virtual surgical simulators.
Equip participants with tools to select appropriate cases and avoid common pitfalls.
Build a network of mentorship and continuing education for skill refinement.
The purpose of this proposal is to develop and launch a structured educational program titled “Preservation Rhinoplasty for Beginners” aimed at training surgeons who are new to the preservation approach. The goal is to provide foundational knowledge, hands-on experience, and surgical confidence in applying preservation principles to primary rhinoplasty cases, ultimately improving patient outcomes and expanding surgical expertise.
