<p>Deniz Ece Alev is a 5th-year medical student at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome. She currently contributes to clinical research within the Department of Otolaryngology at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS.</p> <p>She is a key member of the Neuroscent project research team, a multi-disciplinary initiative funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Ms. Alev’s primary role focuses on the clinical evaluation and phenotyping of study participants. She is responsible for conducting comprehensive ENT and olfactory assessments, with a specific focus on the Sniffin’ Sticks test to determine objective Threshold-Discrimination-Identification (TDI) scores.</p> <p>Her work provides the essential clinical data required to investigate the neural correlates of olfactory perception and its relationship with auditory dysfunction, such as tinnitus. Through her involvement in this high-precision diagnostic project, Ms. Alev is developing a deep expertise in sensory semiotics and the clinical management of complex otorhinolaryngological cases. As she completes her medical degree, she remains dedicated to advancing objective diagnostic standards in the field of ENT.</p>
