Jivianne Lee
Jivianne T. Lee MD is Professor of Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
She obtained her Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Subsequently, she completed her Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery residency at UCLA Medical Center. Because of her special interest in sinonasal disorders, she proceeded to do a Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005.
On a national level, Dr. Lee was appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Rhinologic Society in 2014 and Associate Editor of Sinonasal Disorders for Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, the official journal of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Foundation in 2015. In addition, Dr. Lee serves on the Editorial Boards for the American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy and the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology, the official journal of the American Rhinologic Society and American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. In 2018, Dr. Lee was elected Inaugural Chair of the Women in Rhinology Section of the American Rhinologic Society.
Dr. Lee has been invited to lecture both nationally and internationally on endoscopic surgical approaches to sinonasal/skull base pathology and novel therapies for chronic rhinosinusitis. She has given over 500 instructional course lectures, panels, and scientific presentations, as well as authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters. In 2020, Dr. Lee was appointed International Chair of the American Rhinologic Society (ARS), and in 2021 was appointed to the Executive Cabinet as Treasurer of the ARS. In addition, Dr. Lee was bestowed an Honor Award by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) in 2014, an AAO-HNSF Excellence Award for Outstanding Service in Rhinology & Allergy Education in 2016, and an AAO-HNSF Distinguished Service Award in 2023. In 2021, Dr. Lee also received the American Rhinologic Society Presidential Citation Award for meritorious service to the ARS and outstanding contributions to the field of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery.
She also serves as Co-Director of the ARS International Humanitarian Initiative and was Co-Editor of the first international rhinology video textbook entitled Rhinology Worldwide, which was released globally in 2023. For her achievements, Dr. Lee was bestowed a Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Rhinologic Society for outstanding service, dedication, and leadership as International Committee Chair. In 2024, Dr. Lee was selected as Vice-President of the ARS.
