Lovisa Farnebo completed her clinical training at Linköping University Hospital, Sweden. She presented her PhD thesis in 2010, and subsequently undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, California from 2011 to 2013. She was appointed Associate Professor in 2017.

Her clinical practice and research focus on patients with head and neck cancer. She currently serves as the principal supervisor for five PhD students in this field.

She served as President of the Swedish Society of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery from 2021 to 2026 and is currently President of the Acta Foundation in Sweden.
