Olavo Mion
Dr. Olavo Mion is a distinguished Brazilian otorhinolaryngologist and allergist, currently serving as a Collaborating Professor at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of São Paulo (USP). He earned his MD from Santa Casa de São Paulo (1992), completed his residency at USP (1996), and obtained a PhD and Doctorate in Otorhinolaryngology from USP in 2000.
Specializing in nasal obstruction, allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, mucociliary function, and acoustic rhinometry, Dr. Mion has authored over 50 scientific publications with more than 940 citations. His leadership roles include Vice-President and President of the Brazilian Academy of Rhinology (2009–2017), and he currently President of the Committee on Allergy of the Brazilian Association of Otorhinolaryngology.
Dr. Mion’s clinical and research interests center on optimizing diagnosis and management of allergic rhinitis and related respiratory disorders, with significant work on nasal physiology and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, as well as central compartment allergic disease and artifical inteligence for allergic respiratory diseases.
Sessions
Central compartment atopic disease is a subgroup of chronic sinusitis. Here, the symptoms affect the central portion of the nasal airway. Allergy is usually the underlying cause, and treatment may involve antiallergic therapy and, if necessary, limited surgery.
