Andre Sousa Machado

André Sousa-Machado is a ENT consultant and PhD candidate with a focused interest in rhinology and endoscopic nasal surgery. He works as hospital assistant in Otorhinolaryngology at the Unidade Local de Saúde de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (ULSTMAD) and in Hospital da Luz - Portugal and is a researcher at the CICS - UBI - University of Beira Interior, Portugal.

Dr. Sousa Machado has completed advanced surgical training in rhinology and skull base surgery and has published extensively on anatomical risk mapping, the prelacrimal window approach, and sensory dysfunction following lateral nasal wall surgery. He is the first author of multiple peer-reviewed papers in top tier journals and a frequent speaker at major international congresses including ERS, ISIAN, and CEORL-HNS.

He was awarded the ERS Fellowship and Research Grant in 2023 and 2025. He is actively engaged in collaborative research across Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, and YO-IFOS and contributes to educational efforts aimed at refining surgical technique through evidence-based anatomical insight in order to provide better care to its patients.
