Session
Description:
With hypoparathyroidism as the main complication after thyroidectomy, new tools are essential to help identify and preserve parathyroid glands and function during thyroidectomy. Parathyroid autofluorescence tools are most relevant and very useful both with and without indocyanine green to reduce postoperative hypoparathyroidism. Accordingly, we have currents ongoing RCTs on different aspects of fluorescence in thyroid cancer operations and suggest this topic addressed in the conference.
Outcome Objectives:
We suggest a state-of-art review of current evidence and standards in clinical use and practice of fluorescence in thyroid cancer operations. Data will be from both own and International operations/publications.
Background for Lars Rolighed: More than 60 publications regarding thyroid and parathyroid diseases. Recent publications on clinical use of parathyroid autofluorescence in both benign and malignant thyroid operations.
