The use of CPAP was once contested due to low adherence and, subsequently, because studies failed to demonstrate real changes in the health of treated individuals, even though it improved daytime sleepiness, with no real impact on improving comorbidities. This has been demystified by greater adherence with the use of the technology and new studies showing a positive impact on associated diseases.
From the data collected at a private clinic in southern Brazil, I found data on CPAP adaptation in approximately 100 patients (2021 / 2022), based on monitoring and adaptation in the clinic itself. We selected only one brand of equipment from those available in Brazil. Of the patients selected for data monitoring, we obtained greater adherence compared to the data demonstrated in the literature. What are the factors that increase this adherence? Medical care and monitoring in the clinic itself can make all the difference. The objective is to discuss the concern with the selection of CPAP treatment for OSA.
