Hans Thomeer

Hans Thomeer has been appointed as an otolaryngologist since October 2014 at the UMC Utrecht, chaired by prof. Robert Stokroos. He is dedicated to specialized care and surgical rehabilitation of patients suffering from various otologic and neurotologic diseases (including profound sensorineural hearing loss, otosclerosis, chronic otitis media, superior semicircular canal dehiscence syndrome, etc.), as well as benign and malignant tumours of the skull base (including mainly vestibular schwannoma and paraganglioma surgery). He is also Chairman of the Cochlear Implantation Center Utrecht, where yearly about 90 implantations are done in patients (adults and children). He is the Chief of the Multidisciplinary Skull Base Team Utrecht.

Hans Thomeer performed his PhD-research on congenital middle ear anomalies and surgical outcomes (between 2009 and 2012, Radboud University, Nijmegen (The Netherlands)) and was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Brain Center Rudolph Magnus at the University of Utrecht. He received a Senior Education Certificate for his long and outstandig work in Education and Digital Learning Environments. From January 2024 he has been promoted to Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, with a focus on Inner Ear Biology and Pathology: innovations in diagnostics and treatment strategies. He accepted a Guest Professorship at the Catholique University Leuven (Belgium) to continu his Inner Ear Research and enhance international collaboration.

He has currently published over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles.
