VEMP use has been developed during last 20 years. Yet, criteria for diagnosis of several patologies does not include their results. ¿Can we think about vestibular dysfunction only affecting gravitational receptors?
¿Can we evaluate hydrops affecting only vestibular receptors?
The Lecture aims to reflection on these topics, and shows why these studies should be part of ENT daily practice.
Main topics: use of vemps in deaf people, use of vemps in chronic dizziness, use of vemps to diagnose endolymphatic hydrops.
Bilateral vestibular dysfunction can only affect gravitational receptors. Clinical manifestations can be imprecise, and diagnosis is difficult when professionals do not suspect this possible origin.
A revision of clinical situations presenting this diagnosis, and possible adaptations needed in rehabilitation treatments.
Tinnitus is a common issue, especially among older adults, and affects many people in Japan. In 2019, Japan released its first guidelines to support better care, focusing on counseling, sound therapy, medication, and psychological support. Most treatment is provided by ENT doctors, with care tailored to each person. This proposal will introduce how tinnitus is managed in Japan and how a combination of medical and supportive approaches helps improve quality of life.
