Description:Thyroid surgery is a key area of head and neck practice, requiring a careful balance between oncologic safety and preservation of function. Young otolaryngologists often face challenges in gaining confidence and expertise in thyroidectomy, particularly with evolving guidelines and increasing expectations for nerve monitoring, minimally invasive approaches, and complication management.
Background: This proposal aims to provide an interactive overview of thyroidectomy, including nerve monitoring strategies, decision-making in thyroid surgery, and tips for avoiding complications. Emphasis will be placed on practical skills, evidence-based surgical decision-making, and handling challenging cases.
Outcome Objectives:
Review guideline-based indications and techniques for thyroidectomy
Discuss strategies for nerve monitoring and parathyroid preservation
Share case-based experiences on intraoperative and postoperative complication management
Empower young ENT surgeons to build skills and confidence in thyroid surgery
