<p>Dr. Takeyuki Kono graduated from Keio University School of Medicine in 2007 and joined the Department of Otolaryngology at Keio University in 2009. He completed residency training and became an Assistant Professor in 2013, the same year he was certified as a board-certified otolaryngologist by the Japan Otolaryngological Society. In 2014, he also obtained board certification from the Japan Broncho-esophagological Society. From 2018 to 2021, he conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Laimins Lab), focusing on the molecular mechanisms of HPV. He earned his Ph.D. in 2021 with a thesis on the activation of DNA damage repair pathways in HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer. Upon returning to Keio University, he was appointed Associate Professor in 2021. His clinical and research interests center on head and neck cancer, laryngeal diseases, and HPV biology. Dr. Kono is an active member of several academic societies, including the Japan Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Society, the Japan Broncho-esophagological Society, the Japan Head and Neck Cancer Society, and serves on the International Committee of the Society of Head and Neck Surgery. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Kono is also involved in editing a journal dedicated to laryngology. Also, he is active as a reviewer in various oncology journals.</p>
